How LockedPrice works
We're a marketplace, not a call centre. You deal directly with a named, vetted local locksmith, at a price agreed before they set off.
1. Post your job
Tell us the postcode, what's wrong and whether it's urgent. A photo of the lock helps them quote accurately. Locksmiths see the area and the problem, not your address or number.
2. Get fixed-price quotes
Urgent jobs (locked out, broken lock, after a break-in) close to quotes after 10 minutes, with up to 5 quotes. Planned jobs stay open for 24 hours.
Every quote is an all-in fixed price for call-out and labour. If parts can't be known in advance, the locksmith shows a price range for them. Each quote names the locksmith's business and trading address and shows their reviews and ETA.
3. Choose one
Accept the quote you want. Only then are phone numbers swapped. You pay the locksmith directly when the job's done. LockedPrice doesn't charge customers anything.
If the price needs to change
The locksmith can't charge more than the quote unless you approve a new price in writing in the app. If you're asked for more on the doorstep without that, don't pay it and report it to us.
If something goes wrong
Report a problem within 7 days of accepting a quote. Overcharging or a no-show earns the locksmith a strike. Three strikes, or one serious case, and they're removed.
How we vet locksmiths
- Photo ID and selfie match
- Public liability insurance, with the expiry date tracked
- Basic DBS check
- Trading name and address confirmed
- A phone interview with us before their first job
- Trade body membership (such as the Master Locksmiths Association) shown as a badge where they have it
