About LockedPrice
LockedPrice is a marketplace for locksmith jobs in north-west London. You post a job, checked local locksmiths send you a fixed price, and you choose who comes.
Why we started it
Getting a locksmith often means calling a number from an advert and hoping. Many adverts are call centres that pass the job to whoever is free, quote a low "from" price, and the real bill appears once the door is open. We wanted the price agreed before anyone sets off, from a named local business you can check.
How it works
- You post the job with your postcode and what's wrong. Locksmiths see the area and the problem, not your address or number.
- Checked locksmiths nearby send one fixed price for call-out and labour, with any parts shown as a range.
- You choose. Only then do you and the locksmith swap details.
- The price can only change if you approve a new price in writing in the app.
How we check locksmiths
Before their first job every locksmith shows us photo ID, public liability insurance, a basic DBS check and proof of their trading name and address, and has a phone interview with us. We track insurance expiry and suspend anyone whose documents lapse. Problems reported by customers earn strikes, and three strikes or one serious case means removal.
How we make money
Customers use LockedPrice free and pay the locksmith directly. Locksmiths pay us £15 only when a customer accepts their quote. We never take a share of the job price.
